Honoring Our Ancestors Exhibition - The Creation Migration Artist Collaborative

My new work honors the long and arduous migration that brought my matrilineal ancestors out of Africa to Scotland. Below is "Gone From the Highlands" remembering the Scottish Wolf which my ancestors were likely to have seen.

The Creation Migration collaborating group of artists is opening the "Honoring Our Ancestors" exhibit Saturday April 19th. It is an all new show with exciting ideas and something for everyone. The venue will be at Gaucho Blue Fine Art Gallery at 14148 SR75 in Penasco, and it will run from 3PM April 19, 2014 through May 26, 2014, with gallery hours Thursday thru Monday, 11-5.

We are truly "Honoring Our Ancestors" in many ways and on many levels. That includes the ancestors of the group artists, Betsie Miller-Kusz of Jemez Valley, Belinda Edwards of Santa Fe, Harriette Tsosie of Albuquerque and me, Donna Caulton of Chamisal, and also the ancestors of the many people of this local region of New Mexico. Pictured below is the "Blessing Place" where attendees may leave mementos that honor their ancestry any time during the exhibit.

We are showing work from all four artists, some collaborative work, as well as works from regional artists, and historic photos and documents from the region.
