Racing the Ghost Moon
During my final month as a member of the Las Comadres Gallery Women's Cooperative I am happy to present new pieces from my Ghost Pony series of collages. According to legend, the return of the Ghost Pony happens on the second full moon of whichever months happen to have two, an infrequent occurrence. The next "Blue Moon", also known as the "Ghost Moon" does not come around until July of 2015. For that reason, I plan to continue making images for this series until that date.
The pieces are collaged onto cabinet doors, thus allowing the frame to be an integral part of the piece. They are sealed with acrylic varnish and do not have glass, making them vibrant and accessible. In each piece there is a combination of several possible mediums: etching, collagraph, acrylic paint, watercolor, Japanese papers and fibers. They are fun to make and utilize the mediums with which I am most familiar and adept.
Although this is my last month as a Las Comadres member, my work will still be available there on consignment for an indefinite period of time. The Ghost Pony pieces, however, will move to the Ghost Pony Gallery in Truchas beginning in April. In May also look for my work at the Ojo Sarco Pottery Gallery in Ojo Sarco, NM on the High Road.
