Artes Descartes 2014, Taos

This Saturday, August 22 from 4-8 PM, promises to bring another fabulous Artes Descartes opening at the Stables Gallery in Taos. As usual, local artists demonstrate their consummate skills in making fine art from bits and pieces of left over "stuff".  It is always fun and surprising. Hope you can come.

My piece this year is made from an old magician's box and lots of pieces of this and that. It is called "Champagne in Heaven" and tells the story of my Mother's last words. Don't expect it to be sad or morbid; it is really quite light and humorous.  Here are two views.

Immediately prior to the opening event  the annual Glam Trash fashion show happens in the John Dunn Shops plaza. Fashion models will be showing off  imaginative designs made entirely from discarded materials. The models will then parade down Bent Street and over to Kit Carson Park where there will be a short mini-runway exhibition during the opening of Artes Descartes. This is a great opportunity to smile!!
