Taos Artists Give "Trash" a New Lease on Life.

Well the usual round of fall festivals and activities has begun in Taos. On Saturday, August 22, 2015, we saw the ever fabulous Glam Trash Fashion Show parade at the John Dunn Shops. Long time organizer of that event, Jean Nichols, is retiring this year so Kudos!! to Jean for many years of hard work and great shows. Here are just a couple of shots from the show but more will be available soon on the Glam Trash Facebook page.

As always, this was a very fun-filled event loved by all.

Now for this weekend, the grand event will be the opening of the 15th Annual Artes de Descartes Exhibit at the Stables Gallery in Kit Carson Park.

Artists from the Taos area create interesting and amazing works of art from recycled/reusable materials. Everything from lamps made of pots and pans to weavings from old clothes, to wall pieces from newspaper scraps, horses from metals scraps, you name it! And if you are lucky enough to be able to come see the show you just won't believe it.

My piece (above) is called "Petal to the Metal" and is made entirely of can and bottle lids, a part from my car clutch and fabric scraps. Here's a detail shot so you can see the side view.

The show opening is this Saturday evening, August 29, from 4-7PM. It only runs for two weeks so if you are in Taos be sure to take it in.
