At long last...a new blog entry! This is the last painting I finished before studio tour in September. It is called "Thanksgiving" and popped into my head a year ago. I awakened one morning in November, after the earliest snowfall of the season which invariably seems to happen on Thanksgiving, and heard this loud water-rushing sound outside. I went out and saw, in the cornfield behind my house, hundreds of red-wing blackbirds fluttering in the dried rustling corn leaves, gleaning the remaining corn before winter set in for good. It was an amazing sound and sight. I love the red wing...one of my favorite birds and wanted to make a painting about that moment. Here it is and I hope you really enjoy it.
